Russell is a weld shop supervisor at the Stevenson Engineering workshop in East Tamaki

He started working with us 18 years ago as an apprentice straight out of high school, and has since progressed through the ranks to where he is now.

Over those years, Russell has worked on a huge variety of machinery, such as 23-tonne buckets, container cranes, mining equipment and more, and it’s this wide range of work that keeps him motivated.

“It keeps you on your toes. Some days, we’re perched on top of a container crane, carrying out welding work for Ports of Auckland, and the next, we’re working on trucks and mining equipment. It’s that challenge that keeps the job interesting.”

He believes that our ability to undertake such a wide scope of work is one of our core strengths at Stevenson Engineering.

“The resources we’ve got here are second to none. There’s 100 odd tradesmen on the site, everybody’s got their own area of expertise. Everything can happen under one roof, and we don’t need to outsource anything to get the job done from start to finish.”
