Grant is the Mechanical general manager at Stevenson Engineering,

where he spends a lot of time planning future projects and working on strategies for the company.

He started at Stevenson Engineering as a field service mechanic 16 years ago, and has worked in supervisory and management roles before being appointed general manager.

In his time here, he has worked on major projects around Auckland and the upper North Island, including coal mines, roading jobs, and more recently, underground mining equipment for Solid Energy.

As someone who has been in the industry for close to 30 years, Grant knows what it takes for a company to succeed, and he sees a lot of that at Stevenson Engineering.

“The culture here’s very strong, everybody is very passionate about what they do, and that’s our strength. We all want to get the job done and get it done right. In fact, the people we have here are our biggest asset, which is why we want to look after them and retain their services and experience.”

Now, as one of the two general managers here at our workshop, Grant spends his days focusing on his customers’ needs, which means getting out and about and meeting people. He understands that it’s all about helping his customers’ get the most out of their business, which in turn is good for Stevenson Engineering too.

And when he’s not busy with that, you’ll find him working in Stevenson Marine, a passion he shares with Gary Richmond.

“We are passionate about it, so it probably gets a bit of extra horsepower from us. We’ve nurtured it along a wee bit, and it’s going from strength to strength.”
