Brent supervises a team of seven at Stevenson Engineering’s hydraulic workshop.

Over the course of his 20 odd years with us, Brent has gained valuable experience and knowledge in his field, mostly self-taught, learning through various jobs.

Unlike many other hydraulic workshops that mainly deal in hydraulic systems, valves, pumps and more, Brent’s team at our hydraulic workshop concentrates on the cylinder side of things, which includes pneumatic cylinders.

“A lot of what we do is bespoke, you can’t just go down the road and buy a replacement part. You’ve got to almost reinvent the wheel to come up with ways to fix something, or to improve it.”

“We are all about cylinders, that’s what we know and I believe we do that well. Many other places will give it a go, but they don’t have the tooling or the expertise to pull it off as well as we do.”

He lists working with SteelServ as one of our success stories. “They went through many years of cylinder failures before coming to us. We took the job on, looked at new ways of repairing the cylinders, new ways of sealing them, and now they’ve got record service times for their machinery and their cylinder life.”

Brent says the reason why he’s stayed with us for so long is the facilities we have and the one-stop-shop nature of the place.

“I like the whole self-sufficient thing, where we’ve got multiple divisions. From the heavy plant division to the welding to the machining to the mechanical and engineering side, there’s always somebody in the building to help you out, no matter what challenge you face.”
